Cameron Munster’s agent has poured cold water on growing speculation that the Storm five-eighth could walk away from Melbourne before the end of his contract to join the incoming Perth Bears.

The 31-year-old Queensland star has been heavily linked with a big-money switch to the NRL’s 18th team, with reports suggesting the Bears are prepared to table an offer worth close to $2 million a season. But his agent, Braith Anasta, has dismissed the noise, calling the whole saga "just speculation".

“Cameron doesn't want to leave Melbourne and Melbourne don't want to let him go,” Anasta said on NRL 360. “At the moment, it's all just speculation.”

‘I’m not shopping him to Perth’

The Storm are reportedly trying to balance their salary cap with multiple marquee players locked in, and coach Craig Bellamy recently conceded he wouldn’t “be dirty” if Munster asked to leave early. But Anasta was quick to clarify that no such request has been made, and won’t be.

“One thing is for sure, I'm not shopping him to Perth. I'm not allowed to shop him to Perth, but also, I don't need to,” Anasta insisted.

With his future again under the spotlight, Anasta was firm in his closing stance: “The scenario as it is, nothing is going to change. He's going to be at Melbourne for the next couple of years and that's it.”
