Alex Johnston will continue to chase history at South Sydney after signing a two-year contract extension.
The prolific winger, who is within touching distance of breaking Ken Irvine’s long-held try-scoring record, will now remain at Redfern until the end of the 2027 campaign.
"Alex is the greatest try scorer our club has seen and is on track to become the greatest try scorer in the sport’s history in this country," Rabbitohs Head of Recruitment and Retention, Mark Ellison, said.
"He is a smart footballer who knows how to finish off a try-scoring movement and how to use his body to put himself in the best position to get over the line."

Alex Johnston re-signs with Souths as winger closes in on try-scoring record
Johnston debuted for the Bunnies over a decade ago during his side’s clash against Brisbane on Anzac Day in 2014.
Since then, he has become a cult hero, notching four-pointer after four-pointer while also gaining wider recognition for his feats.
He was presented with the club’s John Sattler Rookie of the Year award after his maiden campaign, which also resulted in a famous premiership triumph for Souths.
He has also won the Dally M Winger of the Year award along with the Ken Irvine Medal on three separate occasions.
"I couldn’t be happier to be staying at the club for another two years," Johnston said.
"I’ve enjoyed premiership success here before and I’m really focused on doing that again here for South Sydney.
"I also want to break the try scoring record at the Rabbitohs and achievements like that come from the efforts and performances of my teammates as much as me. We’re all in this together."
The 30-year-old, who is closing in on notching 250 appearances in the NRL, is just six tries short of breaking Irvine’s record tally of 212.
