Australia has a chance to become a two-time winner in the World Test Championship (WTC) for the first time in history.
The final between South Africa and Australia is currently underway at Lord's Cricket Ground in London, with limited options to watch the event live for free due to the final not being on Australia's anti-siphoning list.
Why isn't the WTC free to watch in Australia?
Amazon Prime Video has exclusive broadcast rights for all ICC events in Australia due a four-year deal that runs from 2024 to 2027.
The agreement was announced in December 2023.
This deal grants Prime Video rights to stream live matches across various ICC tournaments, including the Men's and Women's Cricket World Cups, T20 World Cups, Champions Trophy, Under-19 World Cups, and the World Test Championship Finals.

Having a streaming provider and FTA channel both broadcast an event isn't unheard of - especially in cricket - but due to a strange loophole in current legislation, only matches against India and England fall under the ant-siphoning laws.
The 2023 World Test Championship Final against India was shown on Channel 7.
What is the anti-siphoning list?
The anti-siphoning list is a list of events that are protected by the anti-siphoning scheme in Australia introduced under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.
The scheme’s aim is to ensure that events of national and cultural significance, particularly major sporting events, are accessible to the general public through free-to-air television.

The scheme prevents media content services from acquiring a right to provide coverage of an event on the list unless a free-to-air broadcaster has a right to televise the event on a broadcasting service.
Prior to December 2024, the scheme did not include streaming services.
The new change to the rule was partially a response to the deal made between Prime Video and ICC, as it sparked conversations about broadcasting events of cultural importance.
What channel is the WTC on in Australia?

Start Time: 7:30 PM AEST (10:30 AM local time, London).
