Sam Goodman (20-0) gets a long-awaited crack at a world title when he takes on Englishman Nick Ball (22-0-1) in Riyadh on Sunday, August 17.

While it won't be in the division in which he found himself as the mandatory challenger, super bantamweight, circumstance has led Goodman down a different path.

Instead, the undefeated Aussie will be challenging for Ball's WBA featherweight world championship, moving up to take on the all-action Scouser.

An upset win would cap off a remarkable 12-month rollercoaster for Goodman, who has experienced a raft of highs and lows.

Twice booked to face Naoya Inoue for all the belts at 122-pounds, Goodman was forced to postpone, and then withdraw from the fight, due to cuts suffered in sparring days out from the bout.

Incredibly, the first of those cuts was caused by Brad Strand, who happens to be Ball's main sparring partner.

Knowing he may have missed his chance for a crack at Inoue, Goodman answered the call to jump up to featherweight and challenge Ball in Saudi Arabia.

Here's what you need to know:

What time is Sam Goodman vs. Nick Ball?
