Sam Goodman's shot at WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball has been confirmed to take place in Riyadh on August 16.

The Aussie will be moving up in weight to take on the Englishman, having missed his chance at undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue.

Goodman, 27, was twice booked to face Inoue but cuts suffered in sparring ultimately saw the bout scrapped.

The undefeated New South Welshman returned to the ring last month, defeating Mexico's Cesar Vaca, but, with the road to the title at 122-pounds seemingly blocked for now, he's jumping up to face Ball.

As confirmed by the The Ring, Ball versus Goodman will act as the chief support to an all-English heavyweight showdown between Moses Itauma and Dillian Whyte.

Also in action on the card, Anthony Cacace will take on Raymond Ford, while Filip Hrgovic and David Adelaye will meet at heavyweight.

Liverpool's Ball, 28, boasts a 22-0-1 professional record, having defeated Raymond Ford to collect the WBA strap, before defending it against Ronny Rios and TJ Doheny.

If Goodman can defeat Ball, he may get his long-awaited shot at Inoue, with the Japanese superstar expected to make the move to 126-lbs before too long.
