Harley Reid has given West Coast fans hope that he will remain at the Eagles in 2026 and beyond, as he signed off on his 2025 campaign.
Reid has been ruled out for the remainder of the year after he sustained a syndesmosis injury in Saturday’s Derby against Fremantle, in which the Eagles succumbed to the Dockers by 49 points.
But the blow of a loss to their arch rivals may be softened for West Coast fans by the final line of Reid’s latest Instagram post, a statement that hints the 20-year-old may see a future in Western Australia.
“Not how I wanted the season to end and not the season everyone was hoping for,” Reid said on social media.

“Very grateful for the fans who have showed up week in week out.
“We’ll keep building together.”
Since arriving at the Eagles as the number one pick in the 2023 national draft, speculation has persisted about Reid potentially yearning for a move back to Victoria.
But a report last week suggesting Reid’s management had presented the Eagles with a lucrative offer to keep him at the club for as long as 11 years has threatened to put the rumours to rest once and for all.
The midfielder has supposedly been courted by big Victorian clubs, with Hawthorn and Essendon emerging as the most likely destinations for him to land if he were to request a move back to his home state.

The Bombers will be strapped with two top-10 picks in this year’s upcoming draft which could help facilitate a trade.
Although, as Caroline Wilson reported on Monday night, Essendon may be reluctant to meet the financial demands of Reid.
“My clear understanding, after talking to Essendon over several weeks, is that they are shocked by the sort of money that’s been asked for Harley Reid,” Wilson told the Agenda Setters.
“They were told, ‘unless you’re interested to go north of 1.5 million over as much as 10 years, we’re not going to deal with you.’”
