Outside of the AFL's current coaching merry-go-round, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera's future remains the hottest topic in the footy world.

While Simon Goodwin's sacking this week, his possible replacement along with the future of Michael Voss have stolen some headlines, speculation over Wanganeen-Milera's next contract continues to boil.

Off contract at the end of this season, the 22-year-old's eye-popping performances have only added to the drama, with the South Australian weighing up committing his future to the Saints or considering a move back to either the Crows or Power.

The man himself has kept his cards extremely close to his chest, but that hasn't stopped others from speculating, including established South Australian journalist Michaelangelo Rucci.

He told SEN the situation is "moving fast" but he now believes the star is being advised to walk away from Ross Lyon's Saints.

“There was a fair bit of mail that's been positioned to us in recent weeks and everything keeps moving fast," Rucci said on SEN SA's The Run Home.

“But it’s been said there was enough on the table for Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to sign a two-year deal with St Kilda and then get the godfather offer in two years (to go anywhere).

“But I was told today some very good mail - and my mail I know is very good because the man I got it from is very deep in this stuff.

“He said that probably the advice that Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is going to get is not to be with St Kilda."

If the 83-game defender did express his intention to return to his home state, St Kilda would surely play hard ball over a potential trade with its shiniest asset.

The Crows would at least have a first round pick in this year's AFL Draft to put on the table, something Port Adelaide do not possess, although future picks and current players could be used in the deal.

Power chief executive Matthew Richardson said this week he was confident his club could come up with an offer, although he added "there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge yet".

Rucci stated if Wanganeen-Milera does request a trade, the recruitment battle would be "very interesting".

“That does put Adelaide and Port Adelaide in the frame and that's why your question of, ‘Can they do a deal to close a trade for Wanganeen-Milera?’, is very interesting,” he said.

“I gather it’s much more alive than ever before now.”

The Saints, who have beaten Melbourne and the Kangaroos in the past two weeks, take on Richmond at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
