AFL tribunal hands down verdict over Port Adelaide star's significant ban image

Port Adelaide star and 2021 Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines faced the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night after challenging his three-week ban.

Wines' appeal was unsuccessful at the tribunal, with the three-game ban upheld, with the club deciding whether to appeal the decision.

Wine was reported in the Power's 54-point loss to Carlton on Saturday, where he was cited for rough conduct after a bump on Blues midfielder Cooper Lord in the second quarter.

The young Blue was eventually subbed out of the game with a concussion, 40 minutes after the bump.

The AFL tribunal explained that the high contact and onset of the concussion suffered by Lord contributed to the decision being upheld.

Also adding that it was careless, rough conduct, and there was a high degree of force in the bump and that the delayed concussion symptoms were from the bump.

Wines was hoping to play in Port Adelaide's final match of the season, which is also the final match of teammate Travis Boak and coach Ken Hinkley.

The decision also means that the Power midfielder will miss the first two games of next season, as well as this week against Gold Coast.

Wines has averaged 25.4 disposals and 5.6 clearances across the 20 games he has played for the Power this year.

Hinkley's final season in charge of Port Adelaide has been disappointing for fans and himself as the side sits in 13th position with 8 wins and 14 losses.
