An AFL great has questioned the 'risky' contract Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera has signed to stay with St Kilda in the short term.
The Saints superstar signed a two-year deal worth around $4 million that will see him stay at Moorabin until the end of 2027, with the deal much shorter than what was reportedly offered.
Wanganeen-Milera was choosing between three teams, the Saints and the two South Australian teams from his home state, Port Adelaide and Adelaide.
AFL great Matthew Lloyd was surprised at how short the contract was compared to what he could've signed.

You sort of think to yourself, signing for two is a bit risky because who knows what happens over the next two years, he's at the point where he's the best player in the game or in the top two or three," Lloyd said on 3AW Drive.
"He couldn't have bargained better than right now, so I’m surprised he didn’t take a 10-year deal with the Saints or a 12-year deal; he could've asked for anything."
Lloyd added that 'it can turn pretty quick' for players who are in good form when they sign a contract, compared to the end of it.
"I’ve seen some players sign and then by the end of their contract, they’re nowhere near the player that they were by the end of it. So it’s interesting that he only signed for two years," he added.
He will be the first player to earn $2 million a season at the Saints, while Port Adelaide's offer to Wanganeen-Milera was reportedly a ten-year deal worth $1.6 - $1.7 million a year on average, according to Channel 7's Mitch Cleary.
In a statement announcing his signing, the Saints superstar said he has felt supported by the club since St Kilda selected him at pick 11 in the 2021 AFL draft.
“I know how special it is to pull on the red, white and black. Every time I run out, I’m representing my family, my culture and this club. That means everything to me," Wanganeen-Milera said via a club statement.
Wanganeen-Milera will be out of contract at the end of 2027, with the two South Australian sides expected to try and lure him across again.
