Melbourne premiership player Steven May has received his punishment from the AFL MRO for his ‘rough conduct’ incident against Carlton on Saturday night.
May has been sent straight to the tribunal for the incident, which saw a bump-like action that left Carlton player Frankie Evans bloodied and concussed.
This means that the Demons defender faces a ban of at least three weeks if the tribunal finds him guilty of the reportable offence of ‘rough conduct.’
Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin revealed in his post-match press conference that May had been concussed in a later contest and would miss next week regardless.

Goodwin also added in his press conference that his star backman didn’t have any other options and his intent was to go for the ball.
“It’s going to be one of those ones we have to go through the process, but if you just look at his pure intent, it was purely for the ball,” Goodwin said.
“He just said I didn't have any other option, I was just going for the ball, and that's how it came up. That was his comments as he came off to the bench; he was as surprised as anyone.”
Carlton coach Michael Voss said he would leave it up to the tribunal to decide May’s fate, but said Evans was in good spirits after the match.
Steven May has been sent directly to the tribunal for this incident involving Francis Evans.
