Dynamic Essendon talent Nate Caddy has just signed a new contract to keep him a Bomber until at least the end of 2028.

The 19-year-old has thrilled, not only Essendon fans, but AFL supporters with his ability to excite when the ball is in his vicinity.

Having been selected at pick 10 in the 2023 AFL Draft, would Caddy be taken at no.1 if a redraft of that player crop was to happen today?

Based on pure potential, Caddy would be close to the no.1 mantle, but potential is not runs on the board - and that's what we will be grading by.

The 193cm Caddy has kicked 24 goals in his 24 AFL games so far, with two three-goal hauls the most he has snagged in a single game.

However, Brisbane gun Logan Morris has been far superior than Caddy in front of goal, kicking 24 goals in 19 games last season alone.

In 2025, Morris has gone to the next level, kicking 30 goals in 14 games, lifting his goals per game average across his career to 1.6 - with Caddy's sitting at one goal a match.

Just recently, Morris became the youngest player to kick five-plus goals in consecutive weeks since Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd in 1997.

It's worth noting that Caddy averages two more possessions a game than Morris (11 to nine), as his role requires him to roam up the ground and be a target.

But at this extremely early stage of their career, Morris has performed better and football fans eagerly await whether Caddy can continue to transition from being a potential gun to a superstar of the game.
