Michael Voss will remain at the helm of the Carlton Football Club through the 2026 AFL season, following a unanimous board decision that puts full faith in the senior coach’s leadership.

The announcement ends weeks of public uncertainty over Voss’s future, with the club moving swiftly to back him following a crucial board meeting on Wednesday night.

New CEO Graham Wright, who has been working closely with the football department since June, presented the recommendation, which was endorsed without hesitation.

“This recommendation was unanimously endorsed by the Board,” said club president Rob Priestley. “Michael’s ability to lead our football club this year in the face of incredible pressure has displayed the attributes of a strong and selfless leader.”

Backed by new leadership

Since arriving, Wright has engaged in extensive internal consultation with players, coaches and staff to assess the direction of the AFL program. That process has forged a clear alignment between Wright and Voss on the path forward for Carlton’s football performance.

“Michael always puts Carlton first,” Priestley added. “We want to make it absolutely clear that Michael Voss is the coach of the Carlton Football Club and he will remain the coach of the Carlton Football Club.”

Voss, who has weathered considerable pressure during the 2025 campaign, now has clarity and the club’s full support to push the Blues forward into 2026.
