West Coast is reportedly open to weighing up the future of premiership forward Liam Ryan, with at least four AFL clubs circling ahead of the trade period.

According to the Herald Sun, St Kilda, Essendon and Carlton have all explored whether the 28-year-old could boost their forward stocks, while Port Adelaide is also viewed as a possible destination under new coach Josh Carr.

Victoria a likely landing spot

Journalist Jon Ralph reports Ryan has “one more year on his deal but is open to the prospect of coming east if that advantages both parties, with Victoria seen as an early preferred destination.” The Eagles, he added, are “keen to find ways to secure more draft picks” as they continue their rebuild.

Ryan, cleared earlier this year over an altercation at a music festival, played a key role in the Eagles’ 2018 premiership and remains a proven weapon in attack.

He has notched 123 games and 158 goals since debuting, with his aerial ability and ground-level threat making him a coveted trade target as the league trends towards dominant small forwards.

West Coast already holds Pick 1 in the upcoming National Draft and could strengthen its position further, with free agent and co-captain Oscar Allen set to depart at season’s end, a move expected to net another top-five selection.
