Max Gruzewski’s standout form in the VFL has caught the attention of several rival clubs, with the GWS forward’s future at the Giants now the subject of growing speculation.
Despite being under contract until the end of 2025, the 21-year-old has managed just six AFL games since being drafted in 2022.
He has played only twice at senior level this year, with most of his time spent starring in the VFL, where he’s kicked 33 goals in 12 games and is on track to be the club’s leading goalkicker for a second consecutive season.

“Max has played excellent football at VFL level, no question about it,” Gruzewski’s manager Scott Lucas told Gettable.
“We have had calls from clubs. We've had as many calls about Max as any other player on our list. We hear clubs talking about the need for forward power.”
Forward logjam complicates selection chances
Lucas acknowledged that breaking into GWS's senior side remains a challenge, with the club’s current forward line setup leaving limited opportunities for emerging talls like Gruzewski.
“The Giants are very settled on the structure and personnel they have in the front six at the moment,” Lucas said.

“He's under contract, and we've had some discussions with the Giants about how that all looks going forward. We're a long way from reaching any particular point.”
Originally picked up from the Oakleigh Chargers, Gruzewski has shown versatility at both ends of the ground, with athleticism and aerial strength making him a valuable long-term prospect.
He’s not the only GWS player attracting outside interest; out-of-contract trio Jacob Wehr, Callum Brown, and Leek Aleer are also reportedly being monitored by rival clubs.
