Greater Western Sydney is weighing up a move for St Kilda’s Marcus Windhager, with the young midfielder yet to commit beyond the 2025 season.
Foxfooty.com.au reported the Giants are preparing a pitch to lure the 22-year-old to western Sydney, as he considers a two-year offer from the Saints.
Windhager has a history with GWS, having played junior football alongside Finn Callaghan before both were drafted in 2021, and is understood to be keen on securing more midfield minutes after spending much of his career as a tagger.
Midfield future in focus
With veterans Stephen Coniglio and Josh Kelly approaching the latter stages of their careers, a full-time midfield role under Adam Kingsley could appeal to the former Sandringham Dragons product.

Rival recruiters rate his combination of defensive discipline and untapped ball-winning ability, seeing him as a valuable long-term asset.
Windhager has featured in all 21 games for the Saints this season, delivering one of his best performances in Round 22 against Richmond with 32 disposals, nine marks, four score involvements and six tackles.
Former Hawthorn forward Ben Dixon told Fox Footy: “He’s been known to shut some players down … but his offensive game (against Richmond) … he’s been pivotal.”
Four-time premiership player Jordan Lewis added: “He knows where to run now … I’ve upskilled myself this year, and now it’s my turn to get some disposals.”
Windhager is among several Saints yet to re-sign beyond 2025, alongside Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Dougal Howard.
