Melbourne premiership player Ed Langdon has cast aspersions on the Demons board, who yesterday said the player needed a new voice, which was the reason coach Simon Goodwin was fired.
The Melbourne board decided to sack Simon Goodwin yesterday and held a press conference announcing the sacking where president Brad Green said the club needed a new voice to lead the club.
"This is not about Simon's coaching career, he can coach, we (the board) believe the club needs a new voice and coach to take this forward," Green said at the press conference.
However, Langdon questioned the Demon's board saying the players needed a new voice, explaining he wouldn't agree with the reasoning.

"I'm not sure I would agree with [the players needing a new voice], but you know that's the board's decision," Langdon said.
"I can only comment on the players' relationship with Goody, which was always positive, and we always respected him and loved him as a coach. So, if that's what the board thinks, that's what the board thinks."
Langdon was speaking to the media ahead of his 200th game this weekend, but spoke about the sacking of Goodwin yesterday, including how the players found out.
"We were told in the morning on a Zoom call, some of the senior players, and we managed to get around to most of the younger players as well before that dropped and yeah, big emotional day."
"Definitely shocked, I mean that's not the news I thought I would be waking up to.
"As I said, we're all really close with 'Goody', won a premiership with him, so, yeah, it was a big day."
Melbourne is the first team to sack their coach this season, with assistant coach Troy Chaplin taking over with his first game against the Western Bulldogs this weekend.
