Michael Voss insists Carlton's season is not over image

Carlton coach Michael Voss has reassured Blues fans that the club still have things they can learn from this season.

The Blues are down in 11th spot on the ladder, three wins outside of the eight and with only eight games left in the season, it looks highly likely that they will miss finals this year.

Voss’ Blues have made finals in the last two years, which include a 16-point preliminary final loss to Brisbane in 2023 and a 28-point loss in the elimination finals to the Lions last year.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Blues and whether they should trade players after their bad year, but the coach has called for calm.

Voss has claimed there is a lot to gain from the remaining rounds of the year, and it will help them next year.

“It needs to be stated that for us, this season is live, there is a lot to get out of this year,” Voss said in his pre-match press conference.

“There’s nothing parked here, there is nothing to save, there is nothing to protect. We’re going after it.”

Voss also clarified that Graham Wright coming in as the new CEO of Carlton is something he isn’t worried about regarding his future at the club.

“It’s pretty hard to sort of sit here every single week and ask about that particular transition,” Voss added.

“For us, it’s now we get on with business and it’s about performance and how we start to turn the form on the field around.”

Voss was emphatic that there is still a lot fans can look forward to even if they don’t play finals.

“There’s exciting things to look forward to, we’ve got some youth that will be playing some big games over the last seven to eight weeks of the season, we want to energise that.”

“What’s really important to us is that we connect into our supporters, they are very important to us. We understand that there’s a style of football that we want to play that they can be proud of, and we can be proud of and that they can connect to. So we’re all in this together.”

Carlton will take on ladder leaders and arch rivals Collingwood on Friday night as they look to try and get their season back on track.
