The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets made a rare in-season divisional trade late Tuesday.
It may be nothing more than a depth maneuver, but it adds one more infielder to the Phillies' choices in the second half of the season.
Donovan Walton is moving to the Phillies' organization from the Mets.
Walton is a career .271 hitter at the Triple-A level, and he'll initially be assigned there to Lehigh Valley.
At 31 years old, Walton had spent this season so far at the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.
The lefty hitter has appeared in the major leagues in five separate seasons, hitting 11 doubles, a triple and four home runs in limited action with a .174 batting average.

His biggest value at this stage comes in his defensive versatility. Walton can play second base, shortstop, third base and even left field.
The Phillies already felt they had the Triple-A veteran infield depth role filled by Christian Arroyo, but he's on the injured list.
Walton may not be needed this season, but he's the right kind of addition in July to have around in the system just in case. And the Mets felt he wasn't important to their future needs.
