Conor McGregor club fight, explained: Why UFC star is in hot water again after incident in Ibiza caught on camera image

Conor McGregor found himself in trouble away from the octagon once again on Tuesday.

The longtime UFC fighter, who last fought in July 2021, was caught on camera punching somebody in an Ibiza club, with video then being released to the public.

While it's unclear if McGregor will face any legal consequences for the club fight, it's the latest in his history of incidents over the past few years, from driving violations in Dublin over a multi-year period to sexual assault allegations made in January 2025.

Here's what to know about McGregor's club fight and the video from the incident.

Conor McGregor club fight, explained

On Tuesday, The Sun released footage obtained from a club in Ibiza, Spain, where McGregor was seen punching a man twice with his left hand, knocking him to the floor.

The outlet added that the incident took place in Pacha nightclub in Ibiza. Prior to McGregor striking the man, he was seen leaning down to talk to somebody next to him.

According to TMZ, the video was taken around 5:53 a.m. in Ibiza on Tuesday, and McGregor was permitted to stay in the club, while the person he punched was kicked out.

There have been no indications of whether McGregor will face legal action for the incident in the Ibiza club. However, he has found himself in other trouble in recent years. In July 2024, McGregor was given a two-year driving ban in Dublin for careless driving charges.

In January 2023, he was accused of assaulting a 42-year-old woman on a yacht in Ibiza, although a lawsuit was discontinued about a month later. Earlier in 2025, he was listed in a lawsuit alleging that during an NBA Finals game in 2023 in Miami, he sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman in a bathroom at the Heat's arena, Kaseya Center.

Is Conor McGregor retired?

McGregor is not technically retired, but he has flirted with retirement on multiple occasions. His last fight came in 2021.

As early as 2016, McGregor posted on social media that he "decided to retire young," but he then backtracked on it a few days later. Once again, in 2019, McGregor posted that he was going to retire from "the sport formally known as 'Mixed Martial Art,' but by UFC 246 in 2020, he was back fighting.

For the third time, in 2020, McGregor shared that he had decided to retire. Then 31 years old, he wound up returning in 2021 to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

McGregor has teased his interest in politics, but he was also scheduled to fight Michael Chandler as recently as June 2024 before pulling out due to injury. While McGregor has hinted at retirement many times, he hasn't fully indicated that he's finished with fighting.
