The 2025 Washington Open will soon conclude, with events involving both the men and women scheduled to be completed by the end of this coming weekend.
The men's singles draw currently holds great interest for tennis fans in the United States, as half of the remaining quarter-finalists are American.
Top seed, Taylor Fritz, still remains in the competition and is the favourite to win the ATP 500 event. He booked a place in the last eight after beating Italy's Matteo Arnaldi 6-3 6-4 on Thursday night (July 24).
Fritz will take on Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina for a place in the final four.
The 27-year-old will be hoping to end the weekend as champion in DC and build up some winning momentum for the rest of the North American hard court season.
Fritz will want to reach the level he was at just under a year ago when he reached the final of the US Open. His run to the final included impressive wins over Casper Ruud, Grigor Dimitrov and fellow American, Frances Tiafoe.
Whilst Fritz missed out on the trophy to Jannik Sinner in Flushing Meadows, he has demonstrated that he is not too far away from winning the biggest prizes in tennis.
He recently reached his first Wimbledon semi-final, where he lost to eventual runner-up, Carlos Alcaraz, in four sets.

The pair, who are good friends, are going up against one another in one of the quarter-finals, with fans expecting an exciting clash due to previous encounters between the two players.
Shelton currently leads the head-to-head 2-1, but Tiafoe won the last meeting between the pair in the third round of last year's US Open, which was a thrilling five-set affair.
The American pair played alongside one another in the men's doubles event in Washington, but could not make it out of the first round after losing to Australian pair, John Peers and Matthew Ebden.
Brandon Nakashima (14) is the fourth American still standing in DC, but is the lowest ranked player remaining in the singles draw. He will face Australian seventh seed, Alex de Minaur, in his quarter-final contest.
Minaur is likely to provide a significant threat to the American players' chances in Washington, as is one-time US Open champion, Daniil Medvedev (8), who excels at hard court tournaments.
Medvedev takes on unseeded Frenchman, Corentin Moutet, for a spot in the semi-finals.
All quarter-final matches will take place on Friday (July 25) in the American capital.
