Allianz has officially been announced as the sponsor for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, which starts at the end of this month - a high-profile partnership which is a strong indication of how anticipated this tournament has become.

Who are Allianz?

Allianz are a German insurance and asset management company worth over 133 billion Euros (£115bn). They have a long and involved history with the sport, having supported both the men’s and women’s national teams since 2020.

They signed an ongoing deal with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) last year, pledging ongoing financial commitments aimed at expanding and developing both games, from grassroots level through to the international stage.

This deal also included the renaming of Twickenham Stadium to the Allianz Stadium - which is also where the final of the Women’s World Cup will be played on September 27, in front of a sold-out 82,000 strong crowd.

The investment of Allianz into the tournament is a further sign that the upcoming Women’s World Cup 2025 will be a record-breaking success on a level not yet seen in women’s rugby.

A staggering 300,000 tickets have already been sold for the tournament, which is being hosted by England, eclipsing the 150,000 sold before the 2022 World Cup in New Zealand.

Allianz’s investment is a loud-and-proud public proclamation of women’s rugby as a solid and fruitful financial investment, and is sure to boost the tournament’s profile even further.

When does the Women's World Cup start?

The tournament is quickly approaching, with England’s final friendly match taking place against France on Saturday, August9 , before teams taper in preparation for the tournament beginning on August 22 with England vs USA at Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

With stars like Red Roses's Ellie Kildunne and USA's Ilona Maher featuring in this initial battle, it is shaping up to be the perfect - and no doubt incredibly exciting - match to kick off a month of history-making women’s rugby.
