Giants practice fight, explained: How Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux ended up in physical altercation image

NFL teams are currently in offseason workouts, but every once in a while tensions will flare up like its the regular season.

On Thursday, the Giants' offensive and defensive lines got into a scuffle in a practice on the hottest day in New York so far this year. New York, coming off a three-win season last year, is facing an important year this season as it needs to show improvement.

Therefore, fights during practice may not be a bad thing as it shows how much the two sides care about improving. Nonetheless, it's important for everyone on the team to be on the same page and for the team to squash the scuffle immediately.

Giants practice fight, explained

During Giants practice on Thursday, a few players on the offensive and defensive lines got into a fight that resulted in punches.

First, Brian Burns and James Hudson pushed and shoved each other on a play, then it was Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jermaine Eluemunor who fought. In the latter fight, Thibodeaux ripped off his helmet and threw a punch, while Hudson went after Thibodeaux and Burns after Hudson.

The fight came at the end of practice, so the two sides were separated and went back to the locker room. When speaking with the media, Burns explained that the fight wasn't a big deal, as it was a result of the heat.

"Heat got to us," he said. "Guys trying to get better, tensions raised a little high, heat is getting a little hotter, guys getting a little more agitated. Ain't that deep, we squashed it."

Fights are not uncommon in football practices, even between teammates, and Burns, at least, isn't worried about any long-term impacts of the rumble.
