Rams sign two-time national champion just days after releasing him image

Well that was fast.

The Los Angeles Rams waived Derion Kendrick last week.

But on Tuesday, they signed him again.

It’s probably a solid reunion for both sides.

For Kendrick, it’s familiarity after missing the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL.

For the Rams, they get back a cornerback who started 18 games combined across the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Kendrick was a sixth-round pick out of Clemson in 2022 after winning two national championships with the Tigers.

The 24-year old has played 32 career games in the NFL, recording one interception and 14 passes defensed.

The Rams likely won’t need Kendrick to start this season. That’d be even more true if Jalen Ramsey ends up in Hollywood via trade from the Dolphins.

But cornerback is a position you can never have too much depth at. And for the Rams, this is great depth, a guy they know they’ve counted on to start games in the past.

It ends up looking like a procedural move to release Kendrick and then bring him back. And both parties should be glad to be on the same team again.
