The Philadelphia 76ers have some rising stars on their current roster, but one of their former is making a big career decision.
Over the past several years, the 76ers have had no shortage of intriguing players. With Joel Embiid running the show for nearly a decade, the 76ers have looked to put the perfect pieces around him to try and compete for a championship.
While Embiid and the 76ers have failed to even reach the Eastern Conference Finals, it certainly isn’t for a lack of trying. Over Embiid’s tenure, the 76ers have brought in some interesting young prospects through the draft and tried to find some stars in the making.
Shake Milton was among those potential stars in Philadelphia. On Thursday, Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews reported that Milton will be headed to the EuroLeague to play for Partizan Belgrade.
Interestingly enough, Milton was the second former 76er to make a move to the EuroLeague on Thursday, with Lonnie Walker being the first. Of course, Milton is much more well-known for his time in Philadelphia, spending five seasons with the franchise after being acquired by the team on draft night in 2018.
Milton’s best season with the 76ers came in 2020-21, when he averaged a career-high 13 points per game and even got some Sixth Man of the Year buzz. With the 76ers, Milton was never able to truly carve out a perfect role in an ever-changing backcourt situation with Ben Simmons and James Harden typically starting over him.
After struggling to find his place in the league after leaving Philadelphia, playing for five teams over the past two seasons, Milton will look to carve out a nice role as he begins the next chapter of his career overseas.
