Thomas Frank has made a big call ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's UEFA Super Cup clash with Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday (August 13).
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday (August 12), the new Spurs boss revealed that Yves Bissouma had not travelled with the squad for the match in Udine.
According to Frank, the midfielder will not participate in the game against the Champions League holders at the Stadio Friuli due to "disciplinary reasons".
Explaining his reasoning for the punishment, the 51-year-old said: "He (Bissouma) has been late several times and now this time, it was one too many."
"With everything, you need to give your players a lot of love but also have demands and have consequences. And this was the consequence of that," the Spurs manager added.
Frank then confirmed that the issue with the Mali international will be properly sorted after the game in Italy.
"For me, there's been a consequence for this trip and I will follow up when I go home on that. I have parked it for now because there is an important game tomorrow."

Bissouma featured 44 times for Spurs in all competitions last season. He played the full 90 minutes of the North London club's Europa League final victory over Manchester United in May.

Bissouma's previous off-field issues at Spurs
This latest incident marks the second year in a row where Bissouma has been disciplined by Spurs before the start of the season.
Last summer, he was seen inhaling laughing gas from a balloon in a social media post.
This caused Spurs to launch an internal investigation, with the club finding it appropriate to suspend him for the opening game of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Bissouma publicly apologised for his actions then and it remains to be seen if he will be ordered to do the same again this time.
News of the 28-year-old's indiscipline is an unwanted issue for Frank ahead of the new season as he will have wanted to focus on matters on the pitch.
Instead, he is likely to face multiple questions over the coming days regarding Bissouma's actions and when the player will be back available for selection.
