Xabi Alonso declares Real Madrid pair 'untouchable' despite exit rumours image

Real Madrid fans are confident Xabi Alonso can revive the club in the 2025/26 season.

It's been a summer of changes in the Spanish capital after the club opted to immediately remove Carlo Ancelotti in May, after the Italian ended the regular 2024/25 campaign without a trophy.

Alonso was unable to change that at the FIFA Club World Cup, with his side dumped out in the semifinals by PSG, in a clear illustration of where his squad is.

Defence has been his main priority in the transfer market, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras all landing at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, as part of a new-look back four.

With Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes all in place in attack, Alonso is not looking to bring in any new forward players, with Franco Mastantuono joining when he turns 18 in mid-August.

Luka Modric's exit has removed a key part of the Real Madrid midfield, but Alonso is happy with his remaining options, despite exit rumours on Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos.

With huge focus on the short gap between the end of the Club World Cup and the start of the La Liga season - alongside the impact of Jude Bellingham's injury absence - Alonso needs a deep squad.

Reports from Cadena SER, via Diario AS, Alonso has asked the club not listen to offers for Camavinga or Ceballos, despite the need to bring in transfer fees from sales.

Camavinga is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, with Ceballos attracting interest from La Liga, but Alonso is ready to resist.

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate is the only current potential new arrival, as he stalls on a contract extension beyond 2026, but Alonso's preference is a free transfer in 2026.
