Nottingham Forest bolster side as summer spending rises to £140 million image

Nuno Espirito Santo's hopes of bringing in more players to Nottingham Forest have been granted as they have confirmed the signing of Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimeundo for a reported £26 million on August 18.

This comes after Nuno told Sky Sports that Forest were "very, very far from where they needed to be" ahead of the new season.

Before their 3-1 opening victory over Brentford, Forest were rumoured to have four potential incomings.

Since his comments, Nuno's side have brought three signings over the opening Premier League weekend.

Omari Hutchinson joined from Ipswich for a £37.5 million, while Manchester City's James McAtee joined for a reported £30 million - both on August 16.

All three players signed over the weekend join the club on five-year deals.

Forest have also approached Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz and Manchester City's Rico Lewis.

They are also hoping to extend Callum Hudson-Odoi's stay at the club, as he enters the final year of his contract.

Will the signings boost Forest's season, ahead of the Europa League?

Nuno was clearly unhappy with the state of the club's squad ahead of their first Premier League game. He listed a key number of players he believed the side needed.

In just a few days, those needs seem to be being met.

The Forest boss' demands could have been heightened after their confirmed promotion to the Europa League, as Crystal Palace were demoted by UEFA for multi-club ownership rule breaches.

Nuno had said the side were "ill-equipped" for their European campaign.

They faced a major loss in Anthony Elanga over the summer as he was sold to Newcastle United, but managed to hold onto Morgan Gibbs-White despite interest from Tottenham

Now with three new signings, and more potentially on the way, Nuno could be more pleased with how his side looks.

And an opening 3-1 victory in their Premier League campaign could add to the confidence boost in the team he already had.
