The Premier League has once again dominated the summer transfer window, with clubs collectively spending a staggering sum in their pursuit of success.
But while a few teams have blown the budget, others have taken a more cautious approach.
Here’s a look at which clubs have been the biggest spenders and who has been the most frugal this summer.
The Top Spenders
Liverpool (£248.5m)
Liverpool are the Premier League's top spenders this summer, having committed a staggering £248.5m on new talent.
Under new manager Arne Slot, the club has aggressively rebuilt its squad, particularly in midfield and attack.
Their biggest outlay was a British-record £116m for German superstar Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
They also brought in forward Hugo Ekitike (£79m) and full-backs Milos Kerkez (£40m) and Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m).
This heavy investment signals a clear intent to dominate under their new boss.
Chelsea (£234.8m)
Chelsea’s aggressive transfer policy shows no signs of slowing down.
The Blues have committed a whopping £234.8m this summer, continuing their strategy of investing in young, high-potential players.
Their spending spree includes significant fees for attackers Joao Pedro (£60m) from Brighton and Jamie Gittens (£51.5m) from Dortmund, as well as a £30m deal for young striker Liam Delap from Ipswich.
These acquisitions reflect a team in a state of constant rebuild, aiming to return to the top four and compete for titles.
Manchester United (£193.8m)
After a disappointing 2024-25 season, Manchester United have handed new manager Ruben Amorim a completely rebuilt attack.
The club has spent nearly £194m on three forwards: Benjamin Sesko (£73.7m), Matheus Cunha (£62.5m), and Bryan Mbeumo (£71m).
With no major player sales to offset these costs, Manchester United currently have the largest net spend in the league.
This substantial investment is a clear statement of intent to turn the club's fortunes around.
Arsenal (£185.3m)
Arsenal have continued to invest heavily in their squad in a bid to finally end their long wait for a Premier League title.
The Gunners have spent £185.3m, with significant fees for striker Viktor Gyökeres (£63.5m) and midfielder Martin Zubimendi (£55m).
While they've also secured other top talents, the club's focus has been on bolstering their squad with the kind of quality and depth needed to compete on all fronts.
The Lowest Spenders
While the top spenders have been making headlines, a handful of clubs have taken a much more reserved approach.
At the bottom of the spending charts, two clubs stand out in particular for their frugal approach.
Crystal Palace (£2m)
Crystal Palace is the most reserved club in the Premier League, having only spent £2m so far this summer.
With a settled squad and the club confident in their existing talent, their transfer business has been minimal.
Aston Villa (£4m)
Aston Villa is also on the list of the most frugal spenders, having spent only £4m this summer. T
hey have largely focused on player retention and development rather than new signings, with their only major expenditure being for a goalkeeper.
