Reigning world champions Spain will look to begin their journey for their first Women's Euro on a perfect note as they take on Portugal in a Group B clash on Thursday.

La Roja were excellent during the qualifiers, winning five of their six games to top their group. Their last three Euro campaigns have seen them knocked out in the quarterfinals, something Spain will look to improve upon this time.

Portugal have not been at their best in recent months, with their last win coming against Belgium in February. They haven't moved past the group stage in the last two Euro editions.

Spain vs. Portugal lineups, team news

Aitana Bonmati has recovered from her severe illness and has been named in the Spain squad for the marquee event. However, it's still too soon for her to feature and she will not take part in the action against Portugal.

In Bonmati's absence, Vicky Lopez could start in midfield alongside Alexia Putellas. Spain will also be without the likes of Laia Codina and Teresa Abelleira with both players dealing with different injury concerns.

Spain predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Coll (GK) — Batlle, Mendez, Aleixandri, Carmona — Lopez, Guijarro, Putellas — Caldentey, Pina, Gonzalez.

Injured: Bonmati (illness), Codina, Abelleira.
Suspended: None.

Carolina Mendes is the major absence for Portugal with the striker set to miss the entirety of the 2025 Women's Euro due to injury concerns.

Kika Nazareth is back in the squad although she is unlikely to feature against Spain as she is still dealing with an ankle injury that has seen her on the sidelines since March.

Portugal predicted XI (3-5-2, right to left): Teixeira (GK) — F.Pinto, Costa, Seica — Borges, Jacinto, Norton, T.Pinto, Amado — D.Silva, J.Silva.

Injured: Mendes, Nazareth.
Suspended: None.
