After lifting their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy, PSG have wasted no time shifting gears to the summer market.

The French champions have reportedly moved into pole position to sign Franco Mastantuono, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder from River Plate, beating Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United in the chase for Argentina’s next big star.

Mastantuono, who has scored seven goals and provided 4 assists in 19 matches for River this year, is already the youngest goalscorer in club history, breaking a record once held by Javier Saviola.

The Argentine, born in August 2007, turns 18 in August, making him eligible to sign a professional contract and move abroad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are in concrete talks with River Plate to complete a quickfire agreement.

He wrote on X, "Paris Saint-Germain will try to get the Franco Mastantuono deal done as talks have been ongoing for weeks. Nothing is sealed or agreed upon yet, but PSG will try to anticipate several top European clubs and sign the Argentinian gem. One to watch in the next days/weeks.

Meanwhile, TYC Sports report PSG have reached personal terms with Mastantuono and are ready to pay his £38m [$51m] release clause.

River Plate, however, wants to keep the teenager until their season ends in December 2025 and PSG could be willing to accept that condition.

Mastantuono will appear in the FIFA Club World Cup in July for the Argentine side, and if he does well, it will potentially raise his stock further.

He joins a list of recent River Plate graduates which includes Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez, both of whom have win major honors in Europe.
