Newcastle United desperately needs to sign a striker, with Alexander Isak frozen out of the club.

The Magpies have been linked with Yoane Wissa recently, but now the prospect of signing a star player from a top European side is on the cards.

According to The Daily Mail, "Paris-Saint Germain's Goncalo Ramos is back on the agenda for Newcastle."

Newcastle has monitored Ramos in the past, including when he was still at Benfica. Ramos could be available as he is currently playing second fiddle to Ousmane Dembele at PSG.

Despite missing part of last season with an ankle injury, the Portuguese forward still scored 10 goals in 22 Ligue 1 games.

Eddie Howe's side wants to build on the EFL Cup triumph last season. Ramos is a proven winner, lifting the Champions League and the Nations League with Portugal this year.

Could signing Ramos pave the way for Alexander Isak to leave?

If Newcastle can sign Ramos and Wissa, then it might be wise to cash in on Isak, rather than having an unhappy player on their books.

Isak has ruined his reputation at Newcastle for the way he has tried to force his way out of the club. This would make it very difficult for the player to be integrated back into the side.

With the money that Newcastle has under the Public Investment Fund, they do not want their top players to depart. However, Howe's side may have to bite the bullet regarding Isak.
