Kieran Trippier was Newcastle United's first signing under the era of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

The right-back was a statement signing from Atletico Madrid, and he has since helped them qualify for the Champions League twice.

Trippier also won the EFL Cup with the Magpies, but the 34-year-old's time at the club could be coming to an end. Tino Livramento, who is only 22, has emerged as Eddie Howe's favoured full-back.

Before playing for Newcastle, Tripper had success at Atletico, and a return to playing abroad is on the cards for the defender.

Sky Sports has revealed that "AS Monaco are interested in signing Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier. The French side are weighing up an approach to Newcastle for the 34-year-old."

AS Monaco has signed some big names this summer

Trippier's former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Eric Dier is among several notable recruits for Monaco this transfer window.

The ex-Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has signed for the club following his doping ban. Ansu Fati has also joined the club on loan from Barcelona.

Adi Hutter's side is unlikely to challenge for the Ligue 1 title, with Paris Saint-Germain being the overwhelming favourites. However, with their new signings, Monaco will certainly make the French division more interesting.
