Benjamin Sesko has reportedly turned down a more lucrative offer from Newcastle United in favour of joining Manchester United, with a deal now close to completion following the striker’s personal approval.
Newcastle are understood to have made a stronger financial proposal to both RB Leipzig and the 22-year-old, but Sesko ultimately chose Old Trafford despite the bigger numbers.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Sesko has reached a full agreement with United on a contract until 2030, while Sky Germany reports that INEOS are pushing to finalise the transfer 'in the next hours.'
While Newcastle’s interest was long-standing and financially superior, multiple sources suggest Sesko was attracted by United’s rebuild under Ruben Amorim and the club’s historic stature.
There is a belief within the club that Sesko sees himself as a central figure in a revamped front line alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, following last season’s attacking struggles.

The decision may also reflect the contrasting trajectories of the two clubs.
After internal reshuffles and reported uncertainty around the club’s direction, the project at St James’ Park may have appeared less defined to the striker.
For Sesko, the promise of a starring role and United’s prestige may have outweighed the higher wage packet on offer elsewhere.
His arrival raises fresh questions about Rasmus Hojlund’s future, with the Danish striker reportedly rejecting a proposed swap with Leipzig but now facing renewed competition for the No.9 role.
If the deal is completed in time, Sesko could make his debut against Arsenal on the Premier League’s opening weekend — following his ambition, not just the money.
