Man Utd legend urges club to reconsider selling failed star image

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar has spoken out about a potential summer move for one United player. The former goalkeeper gave his thoughts on Antony after his loan spell at Real Betis.

What did Edwin van der Sar say about Antony?

Van der Sar voiced that he believes Antony has done enough for the club to let him stay for one more season, which was first reported by The Sun. The Brazilian cost £85.5m to bring to United after former boss Erik ten Hag wanted the Ajax star to move with him.

The winger started brilliantly in the Premier League, but he fell off quickly and was never able to establish himself again. The loan to Real Betis revived the winger though, and van der Sar thinks the Brazilian has proven himself.

The former goalkeeper said, "I would say bring Antony back, but I'm not sure if that's realistic."

Antony helped Betis to the Europa Conference League final where they fell to Chelsea. The winger tallied eight goals and five assists in all competitions with Betis. He quickly gained traction with the fans thanks to his flare for the dramatics.

Betis wanted to make the move for Antony permanent, but United are demanding a high fee for the player. There will likely be plenty of interest in Antony given his stature, but a fee so high could deter some teams from signing Antony.
