Man United make shock Harry Maguire transfer call as multiple bids are rejected image

Harry Maguire's Manchester United career looks to have come full circle ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The England international seemed certain to leave Old Trafford less than 12 months ago after being stripped of the captaincy by former boss Erik ten Hag.

However, despite a host of transfer offers for him last summer, the former Leicester City defender was unable to agree an exit and stayed in Manchester.

Maguire continues to split opinion amongst the Red Devils fan base with constant rumours of the club looking at replacement options for the 32-year-old.

Ruben Amorim relied heavily on him in the second half of a turbulent 2024/25 campaign, with nine starts in the final 12 games of the season, including their UEFA Europa League final defeat in Bilbao.

The club activated a clause to extend his contract back in January and he is now tied to United until June 2026.

That initial call was based on protecting his transfer value, to ensure an acceptable price for his services this summer, but Amorim is now blocking an exit.

Are Man United keeping Harry Maguire?

Maguire looks certain to remain in place, with the Daily Mail reporting United have rejected offers from five clubs - including three in the Premier League - during their preseason campaign.

That could now trigger another contract extension, with Maguire potentially seeing out his career at the club, as the experienced leader of Amorim's backline.

Summer signing Diego Leon is lacking experience, as is Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven, so Maguire's seniority can help their development.

Jonny Evans' departure has removed an old head from the defence with Maguire boasting 267 EPL appearances split across his time at Hull City, Leicester and United.
