Pep Guardiola has spoken on his future in football management and what his plans may be when he leaves his current post as Manchester City boss.

Guardiola is about to embark on his 10th season in charge at the Etihad Stadium and his 17th overall as a football manager.

The near-decade he has spent in Manchester has been littered with success, as he has guided his current club to six Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups and an inaugural Champions League title.

Whilst there have been plenty of joyful moments for the City manager, the success inevitably comes at some cost.

Chasing perfection and frequent success at the highest level in sport can lead to mental fatigue and immense stress.

This is no different for Guardiola, as he has worked to deliver consistent displays season after season.

The 54-year-old still has enough drive to keep going in the City dugout, as he signed a two-year contract extension last November to keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the 2026/27 season.

What are Guardiola's plans for when he departs City?

Many have speculated what Guardiola's next steps could be when he decides to step away from his current position.

He has been linked to managerial roles at international level, for nations including Brazil, Spain and England. Talk has also existed over a possible return to the Barcelona dugout.

However, Guardiola has now revealed that his plans for when he leaves City do not involve taking on another managerial job.

He told GQ Spain: "I know that after this stage with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure. It's decided, more than decided."

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss went on to mention just how long a break he could take.

"I don't know how long I'll stop for, a year, two years, three years, five, ten, fifteen, I don't know. But I will leave after this spell with City because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body."

Whilst it is unclear exactly when Guardiola will leave City, there is a good chance he steps away after his current deal expires as he has alluded to the detrimental effects the job has on him multiple times.
