Florian Wirtz has been handed his official shirt number at Liverpool to coincide with the release of the club's new home and away shirts for the 2025/26 season.
The German playmaker has worn the no. 58 shirt during pre-season, while other new summer signings including Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike have also worn temporary shirt numbers.
Wirtz is now set to follow some of Liverpool's biggest stars of the past following the confirmation of his shirt number at his new club.
The 22-year-old, who joined for a club-record fee of £116m from Bayer Leverkusen, will wear the iconic no. 7 shirt for the current Premier League holders.
The number recently became vacant following Luis Diaz' £65.5m move to Bayern Munich.

This announcement caps off a positive week for Wirtz, as he scored his first goal for Arne Slot's side in a pre-season contest against Yokohama FM on Wednesday (July 30).
The German's equalising goal sparked the comeback for Liverpool, who ran out 3-1 winners in Japan.
Wirtz' strong contributions on the pitch earned him the Man of the Match award, as well as prize money worth one million Japanese Yen.

Other greats of Liverpool to wear Wirtz' number include Luis Suarez and Kevin Keegan.
Liverpool's record appearance maker, Ian Callaghan, also wore the no. 7 shirt, among other kit numbers, across the 857 games he played for the club between 1959 and 1978.
Other Liverpool players to have worn the iconic shirt number include James Milner, Robbie Keane, Harry Kewell, Vladimir Smicer and Steve McManaman.
