When Ronaldinho speaks, football listens. And this time, the former Barcelona icon has turned the spotlight on 17-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal.
The Brazilian great believes Yamal is not only the future of Barcelona but a player who can carve out a legendary career.
In a recent chat with Marca, Ronaldinho said: “Messi and I have already made history, now it’s Lamine Yamal’s turn.” That’s high praise from a man who once lit up Camp Nou with a smile and a samba.
The teenager has taken La Liga by storm this season. His fearless style and sharp decision-making have been a major part of Barcelona’s league and cup double.
But for Ronaldinho, this is just the beginning. “He can win it more than once” Ronaldinho didn’t hold back in his praise:
“Lamine Yamal is on the level of winning the Ballon d’Or. There are other great players in the world, but he’s among them. It’s surprising because he’s so young, but he can make history by winning it not just once, but several times.”

Yamal has already become a fan favorite, and his dribbles are now a regular feature on highlight reels. But Ronaldinho isn’t focused on comparisons.
“I’ve never liked those kinds of comparisons because every footballer has his own unique style of play,” he added. “The important thing is that Lamine Yamal brings joy to the people.”
With a big new contract expected to come once he turns 18 in July, and a trip to Athletic Club wrapping up the season, all eyes will be on what this young La Masia product does next.
It’s clear the magic is back at Barcelona — and Yamal might just be the next act fans can’t stop watching.
