Aston Villa signed Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio on loan last season, but it was the Paris Saint-Germain loanee who made the biggest impact for Unai Emery's side in the Premier League.
Asensio scored eight goals in 21 appearances for Villa. Rashford performed well too and has earned a loan move to Barcelona on the back of his stint at Villa Park.
Being contracted to PSG until next summer, Asensio needs to depart the French side if he is going to be playing next season.
The Telegraph has reported that "Villa are exploring a deal to re-sign Paris St-Germain’s Marco Asensio."

Villa's only notable signing of the window so far has been Evann Guessand from Nice. The highly rated striker will provide competition for Ollie Watkins.
More recruitment is needed if Villa are to challenge for a Champions League place in the upcoming campaign.
Villa came agonisingly close to qualifying for the competition last season, missing out on goal difference.
