Arsenal makes lucrative 'formal offer' to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer image

Arsenal are wasting no time this summer. The Gunners have reportedly made a formal bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, hoping to land the Swedish striker before others join the race.

The north London club has apparently put a €70 million offer on the table, with plenty of sweeteners to make the deal hard to ignore.

Gyokeres was one of Europe’s standout performers last season, scoring goals for fun in Portugal.

Now, Arsenal want to bring that firepower to the Emirates and finally fix their long-standing striker issue. It’s been a few seasons of near misses for Mikel Arteta’s side. A clinical finisher could be the final piece of the puzzle.

Reports (via Correio da Manha) say some Arsenal officials were in Lisbon last weekend — not just for football tourism.

After attending Arsenal Women’s Champions League win over Barcelona, they met with Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, to push talks forward.

Arsenal including special signing bonus for Gyokeres

According to the same reports, Arsenal’s offer includes a €12 million signing bonus and an annual salary of €7 million for the 26-year-old striker.

That salary would reportedly make him one of the club’s top earners — even topping Kieran Tierney’s pay.

Gyokeres delivered a jaw-dropping 54 goals and 13 assists across all competitions last season. That kind of return would have made even Thierry Henry raise an eyebrow.

Arteta sees him as a crucial part of next season’s plan, as Arsenal aim to go from title challengers to title winners.

The Gunners are not alone, though. Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also watching the situation closely. But Arsenal’s early move could give them an edge in what promises to be a tight summer transfer window.

As Arteta put it: “We want to increase the quality and the skills that we need to go to the next step.” Landing Gyokeres would be a giant one.
