Atalanta do not want to sell their star to another Serie A club, which could give Arsenal a boost in the race, although Atletico Madrid are also interested in Lookman.
Arsenal could also make a move for the Nigerian should Leandro Trossard leave the club.
Lookman scored 15 goals and had five assists in 31 Serie A games last season.
