Luke Humphries career highlights, record and stats
Before becoming a full-time darts player he worked as a roofer. After winning events on the tier tours and the World Youth Championship (2019) Luke seemed to plateau somewhat in and around the period of Covid-19 epidemic. A sudden improvement away from the TV cameras came in 2022 when he began to win titles on both elements of the PDC’s elite level Pro Tour.
In rapid succession Cool Hand claimed five European Tour titles and three Players Championship events. For a while he still struggled to translate this form into performances on the biggest stages. That all changed in the autumn of 2023.

The then 28-year-old had worked his way into the top five on the back of his no tv performances and was reportedly unhappy to not be selected for the 2023 Premier League.
Luke claimed his first ranking major at the PDC’s World Grand Prix in October of that year, won the Grand Slam of darts a couple of weeks later and made it a hat trick at the Players Championship Finals at the start of December.
Weeks later Humphries cemented a remarkable spell of dominance by overcoming the teenage sensation Luke Littler to lift the PDC’s World Championship in January 2024. He soon rose to the top of the PDC's Order of Merit to be acknowledged as World number one.
Over the next 18 months he added: The World Cup of Darts, World Matchplay and Premier League to his honor roll, defended his Players Championship Finals title and reached several other finals. During this period that he adopted a new walk-on song for a Premier League night in Leeds. It proved popular with fans and has stuck.
The Luke Humphries story is equally remarkable and his period of dominance has perhaps only been matched by Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor.
Luke is engaged to be married, and has a son and step daughter with Kayley, he is also an enthusiastic Leeds Utd football fan even wearing a version of their shirt when he performs in the city.
