How did India dominate the second Test at Edgbaston?
India set the tone from Day 1 only. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a fantastic 269 which is the highest Test score by an Indian skipper. India piled up 587 with the support of a valuable knock from Ravindra Jadeja (89).
England, in reply, had a strong middle-order resistance with Jamie Smith (184*) and Harry Brook (158) putting together a 303-run stand. But Mohammed Siraj’s 6/70 and Akash Deep’s 4/88 ensured India earned a lead of 180.

In their second innings, India batted swiftly, adding 427/6 declared, again with Gill leading the way with 161. England were set a mammoth target of 608, and despite a rain delay and a brief fightback from Smith (88), they were bowled out for 271.
Akash Deep stole the show with match figures of 10 for 187, the best ever by an Indian bowler in England, including 6/99 in the second innings.
