Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja- all three of them were in solid form in this series and scored 500+ runs.
This record-breaking moment unfolded during the ongoing fifth Test at The Oval, which began on Thursday, July 31.
When has India ever seen three 500-run scorers in a Test series before?
Never before. This is the first time in over 90 years of India's Test cricket that three of their batters have managed 500-plus runs in the same series.
It’s a new milestone in the long journey that began with their debut Test in 1932 and their first full series in 1933–34.

Shubman Gill, who is captaining the side, leads this elite trio with a staggering 754 runs from 10 innings, including a double hundred and three centuries.
KL Rahul scored 532 runs with his highest knock being 137. Then there’s Ravindra Jadeja, who reached the 500-run mark during Day 3 of the Oval Test. He reached the milestone after scoring 37 in the second innings.
Here is a look at the top three Indian run-scorers from this Test series:
Player | Matches | Innings | Runs | Best Score |
---|---|---|---|---|
Shubman Gill | 5 | 10 | 754 | 269 |
KL Rahul | 5 | 10 | 532 | 137 |
Ravindra Jadeja | 5 | 10 | 500* | 107* |

How rare is this achievement for Indian batters in Test history?
The previous highest trio output for India in any series didn’t see three players breach the 500-run mark.
Even legends like Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly and Sehwag, despite multiple dominant series, never combined for such a triple 500+ feat in one tour.
To compare, in the 1989 Ashes, five Australian batters went past 400 runs, but even then only three crossed 500.
