England all-rounder Sam Curran has opened up about his long-term ambitions in franchise cricket. He revealed he wants to emulate West Indies greats Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo by collecting titles deep into his late thirties.
Speaking on the For the Love of Cricket YouTube podcast, Curran said his approach to picking tournaments is increasingly focused on playing where he can have the biggest impact. The 27-year-old has already lifted the IPL trophy and multiple other T20 titles.

He said that trophies remain his main motivator over personal statistics, saying the Invincibles' recent team talk about chasing a third championship as an example of his mindset.
Sam Curran on choosing the right tournaments to play
Curran explained that not every tournament is the right fit for every player, even if the opportunity is available.
"I just want to try and go to places where people know me and I get the best out of me. Sometimes you can go to a random tournament, bat at eight, do some average bowling and you get through it - but it's not the same," Curran said.
He added that different cricketers have different goals: some focus on topping the run charts or wicket tallies. But for him, the ultimate aim is silverware.
Inspired by Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo's trophy rivalry
Curran shared how he looks up to Pollard and Bravo's light-hearted competition over who has the most trophies.
"Bravo and Pollard have this bit of banter - who's got the most trophies. I want to be that guy when I'm 38 or 39, winding up Tom Curran or someone like that, saying 'I've won 25 trophies, where you at?'" he added.
That ambition keeps him focused on joining teams that share a clear, collective goal of winning. Curran underlined that in franchise setups - success depends on everyone buying into the same objective.
"At the Invincibles the other day, the whole talk was about going for the third trophy. It's all about one goal. That's very important in franchise cricket where it can sometimes be the other way," he said.

With his combination of batting and bowling versatility, Curran remains a sought-after asset in leagues around the world. And if his career longevity matches his vision, his name could one day sit alongside Pollard and Bravo in the conversation for the most-decorated T20 players in history.
