India and England wrapped up a thrilling five-match Test series with a dramatic finish at The Oval where India edged past by just six runs to level the series 2-2.
While there was plenty to reflect on from the final Test, one talking point after the match was Gautam Gambhir's decision to name Harry Brook as England's Player of the Series. The choice even surprised Brook who felt Joe Root was the more deserving recipient.

Harry Brook says Joe Root should have won Player of the Series
Despite scoring 481 runs at an average of 53.44 including a pivotal century at The Oval, Harry Brook downplayed his selection as England's Player of the Series.
The England batter admitted that teammate Joe Root - who ended the series as England's top scorer with 537 runs at 67.12, should have taken the honour.
"I didn't score as many runs as Rooty, so I probably think he should be Man of the Series or Man of the Summer," Brook said.

Brook and Root shared a promising stand in the final innings at The Oval and at one point, looked set to chase down a record target. However, Brook's dismissal triggered a collapse and England lost 7 for 66.
Who picks Player of the Series in Tests in England?

Why did Gautam Gambhir choose Harry Brook?
Gambhir's decision to pick Brook may have been because of his aggressive batting and innings under pressure - especially his 111 on the final day at The Oval.
As opposition coach, Gambhir had the task of identifying the England player who made the greatest impact against India and Brook's attacking style possibly made his case.
