The 2025 Test series between India and England has turned into a run-fest. Both teams have already combined for 13 totals over 300 and there’s still one inning left to be played.
India alone has made eight 300+ totals, including a massive 587 in Birmingham. Flat pitches, good batting conditions and in-form batters have pushed bowlers to the edge in every game so far.

Why has the 2025 IND vs ENG series seen so many big scores?
The pitches in England this summer have been very batting-friendly. Leeds had bounce but stayed true, while Birmingham and Manchester were both flat.
Lord’s offered swing early but became easier to bat on. The Oval too has followed the same pattern.
Batters from both teams have made full use of these conditions. India’s Shubman Gill has scored over 700 runs, with four centuries.
Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Pant have also played big knocks. England’s Joe Root and Ben Duckett have been in fine touch too.
This series has already seen 19 centuries- 12 from India and 7 from England. It now stands at third in history for most centuries in a Test series.
How does this series compare to the top high-scoring ones in Test history?

If England posts one more 300+ score, the 1928/29 Ashes record of 14 will be equalled. Given how this series has gone and how has England gone about their run chases in the fourth innings, this looks very much possible.
