The 2025 Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday turned out to be an unlikely matchup. Many expected world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and world No. 2 Coco Gauff to make it. However, we ended up with Iga Swiatek vs. Amanda Anisimova — the 8th-seed vs. the 13th-seed — in a battle of underdogs on a quest for grand slam glory.
Make no mistake about it, this is a fantastic matchup and one which should be well worth the price of admission. It's the first professional match between the two, although they did meet once in the juniors back in 2016.

Swiatek, who has five grand slams to her name and occupied the world No. 1 ranking 125 different weeks in the past, has put on a masterclass so far this summer. She has played fast and hit the ball with the kind of accuracy she enjoyed when she won 37 matches in a row in 2022. She seems untouchable right now.
Anisimova has also been splendid. Her serve and forehand have been powerful. Her patented backhand has been lethal, although it did get in some trouble at times in the semi-final vs. Sabalenka. Her slices have been masterful and perfectly timed. The American from Florida seems ready for the heat that comes with a grand slam final.
This marks the first Wimbledon final for both women, so this should be an utter treat for tennis fans and bettors alike.

Look, we get that it's not a sexy pick. Swiatek yielding such short odds means a potential profit of less than half your stake. But she's still the best bet, and there's a reason the bookies have made her such a strong favourite.
This version of Swiatek is borderline Serena-like. The Polish native's dominant win over Belinda Bencic in the semis (6-2, 6-0) left the crowd speechless. She was almost impeccable, winning on 83 percent of first-serve points and making 90 percent of returns.
No knock on Anisimova whatsoever — she has been stellar in her own right, and we applaud her brilliant comeback from multiple injuries and the tragic loss of her father. "She beat Sabalenka," you might say. But remember that Sabalenka has always struggled on grass, and her grand slam track record has started to become a bit questionable.
Swiatek's track record, meanwhile, has been perfect. She's a perfect 5-for-5 in grand slam title matches, winning the French Open four times and the US Open once. Look for the Polish star to pull down another title on Saturday, becoming Wimbledon's eighth consecutive first-time champ.

Swiatek to win 2-1 (3/1)
As dominant as Swiatek looked in the semis, we must also consider that she was playing an extremely inexperienced opponent in Belinda Bencic. And Swiatek herself has enjoyed limited success at Wimbledon to this point in her career — prior to 2025, she has reached the quarter-finals just once in five tries.
Anisimova has plenty of fight in her, and she won't make as many unforced errors as Bencic did against Swiatek. The American should make her opponent work for the victory, utilising her powerful and precise groundstrokes as well as her patented two-handed backhand.
Swiatek has dictated the pace of her last two matches, but it won't be nearly as easy to dominate from wire to wire against Anisimova. We do like the five-time grand slam champion to emerge victorious, but it would be a surprise if she mounted a shutout in the process.
