After a wild Canadian Open that included four play-off holes, the golf world now turns to Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania for the 125th edition of the US Open.
A field of 156 will compete at the famed championship, the third of four majors in the calendar year. This marks the 10th time the US Open has been held at Oakmont, one of the most difficult courses in the nation.
When we think majors and difficulty, a few names naturally come to mind:
- World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler — who won the PGA Championship this season, his third major win.
- World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who completed his career Grand Slam with a win at the 2025 Masters.
- LIV golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, each of whom has two major wins (DeChambeau serves as the reigning US Open champ, Rahm won in 2021).
- World No. 3 Xander Schauffele, who has two major championships and eight consecutive top-15 finishes at the US Open.
These five will almost certainly all be in the mix this weekend, barring any cataclysmic collapses. And, as we saw with Ryan Fox and Sam Burns last weekend in Canada, some sleepers can also emerge out of the pack. In just the past few years, we have seen Wyndham Clark and Matt Fitzpatrick beat out the likes of Scheffler and McIlroy for the rights to the US national championship.
Let's look at the odds for the 2025 US Open, then make our predictions. We'll detail the best bet, top value wager, and our favourite sleeper bet to win it all, then wrap things up with the best bet to finish in the top 10.

US Open 2025 best bet to win
Bryson DeChambeau (7/1)
It's always difficult to pick anyone other than Scheffler on a difficult course, especially considering the two-year heater he's enjoyed since Spring 2024. But DeChambeau has been almost as dominant in majors, and his elite strength and accuracy off the tee — combined with his impeccable short game — should make him the man to beat at the US Open for the third time in five years.

US Open 2025 best value bet
Scottie Scheffler to make the cut (35/1, special odds boost with Paddy Power)
This is a simply unmissable offer for golf fans.
Scheffler enters the weekend as the slight favourite to win, no surprise considering his elite run over the past couple years.
The world No. 1 and back-to-back PGA Tour Player of the Year has won two of the past four Masters, this year's PGA Championship, The Players Championship in 2023 and 2024, and the 2025 Byron Nelson and Memorial Tournaments.
And punters have the chance to cash in big on the American, thanks to Paddy Power's fantastic 35/1 Scheffler-related promo bonus, which also includes a free £5 bet on Royal Ascot next week.
That boost looks even better when when you consider he hasn't missed a US Open cut since 2019 and he has finished solo third, T2 and T7 in three of the past four US Opens!

US Open 2025 top long-shot bet
Si Woo Kim (100/1)
Kim has the kind of well-rounded game that can flourish at Oakmont. He's adept at hitting fairways and hitting greens in regulation, he's a tremendous putter and par-4 scorer, and he's coming into the weekend in great form. He has T8s at the PGA Championship and the Truist, so 100/1 to win or 3/1 to finish top 20 both seem like generous odds.
US Open 2025 best bet to place top 10
Xander Schauffele (15/8, Paddy Power)
Lock it in as the best prop bet of the US Open — Schauffele has been absolutely electric at this major throughout his career, with eight straight top-15 finishes and seven total top-10 finishes. There's no challenge too big for this man, and we like him to tackle the difficult and wet course at Oakmont with his typical stoicism. Why bet against consistency!?
