The race for the Premier League is nearing a conclusion, with one final hurdle in sight and the prospect of a Wembley promotion decider on May 24.

But which one of Sunderland and Coventry will join Sheffield United in the showpiece after the Championship play-off semi-final second leg?

The Blades are already ensured of their place in the final, having emphatically despatched of Bristol City 6-0 over two legs, but their opponent will be decided on Tuesday night.

Sunderland head into their home leg with a priceless 2-1 advantage, given to them courtesy of a late goal from Eliezer Mayenda when he latched on to a shocking backpass in the first fixture last week.

Frank Lampard's Coventry had gone into that match as the favourites, but as is so often the way in the play-offs, there was a sting in the tail, and Sunderland ended their five-match losing run.

Can the Black Cats go on and complete the job, or will Lampard mastermind a comeback to send his side through? Here's all the latest betting odds and predictions for what could be an intriguing encounter.

Having ended their woeful run of form at just the right time, in theory Sunderland will start as favourites to win this one — they are as short as 1/5 to qualify for the final. But the play-offs are rarely that straightforward, and we are predicting a nervy night on Wearside.

Coventry headed into the first leg unbeaten in 10 matches against Sunderland but some kamikaze defending ultimately cost them, as Milan van Ewijk's slip-up allowed Mayenda to net the winner.

Until that point, it had looked like they were heading for a draw, and the chances of that scenario repeating in the second leg look appealing, at 5/2 with AK Bets.

The tension will be palpable, so don't expect a free-flowing game. Neither side has been heavy scorers of late — Sunderland have netted just five times in their last 10 matches, while Coventry have averaged just over a goal a game in the same stretch.

A tight, gritty battle looks like the most obvious outcome, with a 1-1 stalemate at 5/1 with Spreadex a decent prospect.

There's also a strong chance that challenges will fly, and with everything on the line for both sides the best bet of the night might actually be the cards market, with over 4.5 cards in the match available at even money with betway
